Virginia Real Estate Appraisal Online

Begin career training and certification with a Real Estate Appraiser online course for Virginia. This is a 75 hour online course to meet the qualifications for an Virginia Real Estate Appraisal License and be certified.

Education and Experience Requirements 75 hours for the Appraiser Trainee certification .

This education must be obtained within the last 5 years. Within 12 months after being approved by the board to take the state examination, the applicant shall have registered for and passed a written examination provided by the board or by a testing service acting on behalf of the board. 90 hours for Licensed Virginia Residential. The online class hours required for the licensed residential appraiser may include the classroom hours required for the trainee and may also include 30 hours of related courses in topics specified in 18 VAC 130-20-220 A 1. 120 hours for the Certified Residential Appraiser . The course hours required for the licensed residential appraiser may include the classroom hours required for the training person or the licensed person and may also include 30 hours of related courses in topics specified in 18 VAC 130-20-220 A 1.

Experience Requirements:

There is no experience requirement for the appraiser trainee classification.

Trainees must work under a supervising appraiser to obtain experience. Applicants for a license shall have a minimum of 2,000 hours appraisal experience. Hours may be treated as cumulative in order to achieve the necessary 2,000 hours of career experience. Applicants for a license shall have a minimum of 2,500 hours of appraisal experience obtained during no fewer than 24 months. Hours may be treated as cumulative in order to achieve the necessary 2,500 hours of appraisal experience. Applicants for a certified general real estate appraiser license shall have a minimum of 3,000 hours of appraisal experience obtained during no fewer than 30 months. Hours may be treated as cumulative in order to achieve the necessary 3,000 hours of appraisal experience. At least 50% of the experience required (1,500 hours) must be in nonresidential assignments and include assignments which demonstrate the use and understanding of the income approach. An applicant whose nonresidential appraisal experience is predominately in such properties which do not require the use of the income approach may satisfy this requirement by performing two or more appraisals on properties in association with a certified general which include the use of the income approach. License Renewal Renewal of License

Licenses issued under this chapter for certified general real estate appraisers, certification residential and licensed residential trainees and registrations issued for business entities shall expire two years from the last day of the month in which they were issued, as indicated on the license or registration.

CE Continuing Education

URAR Form Review - The course will instruct students in detail how to fill out the new Uniform Residential Appraisal Report (URAR). Students will be taken through each section of the URAR where they identify and complete the required fields. This course provides the student with the guidelines and direction to create URAR reports which are in compliance with USPAP.

Qualifications for renewal As a condition of renewal, and under § 54.1-2014 of the Code of Virginia, all active certified general real estate, certified residential, and licensed appraisers, resident or nonresident, shall be required to complete continuing education courses satisfactorily within each licensing term as follows:

All property appraisers must complete certification continuing education courses or seminars of not less than 28 classroom hours during each licensing term. Seven of the class room hours completed to satisfy the continuing education requirements shall be the National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice course or its equivalent. As a condition of renewal, all licensed trainees, shall meet the continuing education requirements set forth in subsection A of this section beginning with the second licensing term. Continuing education is not required to renew a real estate appraiser trainee license at the expiration of the first licensing term.
